DoxEmr - EMR for podiatrists (updated) http://www.pcyoutrust.com/DoxEmr.aspx
Hottest news of 2011!DoxEmr completely changed the developers bringing new/cheap developers on board. The old team, created the entire project from scratch, was simply thrown away in one night with no doubt. A so-called offer, that we suddenly got on July 1, 2011, was not acceptable for several reasons. We were informed that DoxEmr decided to outsource the entire project without even talking to the people who created it from scratch and made it possible. The so called offer that we received on July 1, 2011 didn’t even look like any kind of offer at all. It was just an unformatted email from a person who had no idea how such a thing must be written. Even more, prior to send us this email message the company simply and quietly stopped paying us for our job with no warning. So we didn’t receive a regular payment for the last two weeks of our hard work. According to our contract, it had to be done, but DoxEmr simply decided to ignore the law. Although after a few months of debates DoxEmr finally decided to completely pay off what it had to with no questions asked, but we had to show them how many laws they broke and what the consequences could be if they decide to skip the payments. And these people wanted us to teach the new DoxEmr development off-shore team, tell about all our valuable tricks and ideas that we used to create this project and all that for free? Is it a joke? So we left the project with a little regret. The regret for the entire project that we created from scratch and that could be considered as our child. We wrote millions of lines of the source code, we created the entire infrastructure, we designed the solution, we got a lot of practices, invited thousands of podiatrists, we and only we, as a part of the team, created a medical network with over two millions of patients. We made this project real when others simply gave up and left. We don’t want to comment how ethical and polite these DoxEmr acts were to us. As for a software project, only the people who have no any idea about software development at all can do that. All the incredible ideas used to create and support the current code, all the inventions are gone together with the original developers of this system! A large and complicated object always means that one needs to know and understand how everything works before one wants to make any change. Changing just one place can cause a lot of serious problems in over a hundreds of places and any new person can break the entire system without having any idea of what was done and how that happened. The professional software developers know how hard is to read somebody else's code, even if it's perfectly formatted and commented. In most cases it's much easier to rewrite the entire fragment from scratch, than to read somebody else's source code. But what about the millions of lines of the source code? The problem is that the company leaders are not software developers, not even close. So their decision was driven by the feeling to get more for less inspite of patient security and not only that. Unfortunately, many companies want to outsource their projects to save more money on development. And most of them, if survive, return back to on site developers. We would like to wish DoxEmr Good luck! Maybe they will learn this lesson hard way. Nobody can stop them from doing that for sure. It was completely their decision. Although several thousands of providers and over two millions of patients can be in a bad shape at least during this transition period that can last forever. We don't want to comment a professional level of a new team. We don't know them and, honestly, don't want to. But the fact, that they are "Releasing" the application in "DEBUG" mode can reveal you many interesting things if you are a real professional. Anyway, what happened was not our fault. We did our best and created the project. If we didn't do that in 2003 and later DoxEmr company simply didn't exist. The project was real on June 30, 2011. And only the future will show who is right. We want to inform our customers and all the people knowing us, that our name is no longer associated with DoxEmr. According to the contract we had to destroy the source codes deleting them from our computers and from the backup media. We did that because we respect the law even if we were not paid accordingly. Although the source codes can be easily rewritten with significant improvements avoiding all the current limitations existing in the curent DoxEmr project. We know about all the problems existing in the current project and we are aware of all the issues that the current developers are facing without having any idea about that. We also know, that DoxEmr solution was somehow certified, but realistically several critical features mentioned in the Certificate, have never been implemented. Instead, all of the features that were mentioned in the Certificate have been implemented by us. And we are really proud of that! PC You TrustDimi

There is a very interesting book called "Built to last". You can get it just for a few dollars on Amazon or ebay. According to the statistics used to write this book, the companies keeping the top developers and treating them as required are much more successful. It is obvious formme, that the company has to keep and love the people bringing the golden eggs. That's the rule of any sucessful business. If you don't respect your own developers, underpay them, or even fire, but at the same time you try to sell their product, it won't last, your success is just a dream. It will never make you anything good for a long enough period and especially with a software. The people, making you the fortune, is the most significant and valuable part of the company. Stingy people often forget that finally losing everything.

Btw, several years ago a few really well-known and respectable companies decided to switch from a permanent full-time employment to contracts hiring developers for 6 months. A little later a new joke appeared: "The first 3 months the developers are trying to understand what they need to write, the last 3 months they are looking for a new contract. Who cares what they are writing in between?". John S.
